Every build expires. If you don't update the beta regularly via TestFlight, the icon will grey out and say "Expired." You cannot open the app until you install a newer build.
If you manage to get a link, ensure you have a spare Apple ID. Beta builds can be unstable. Installing on your main ID might leave leftover profile data.
