Organized naturism, which traces its roots to early 20th-century Germany as a rebellion against rigid social mores, has long struggled with the balance between "naturism" (a health and wellness philosophy) and "nudism" (the simple practice of social nudity).
Wellness diets frequently label foods as clean/healthy vs. dirty/guilty. Body positivity encourages unconditional permission to eat, noting that food morality drives shame and disordered eating (Shatte & Tepper, 2018).
At Enature Net Pageants, we believe that naturism is a lifestyle that promotes self-acceptance, body positivity, and a deeper connection with nature. That's why we're excited to announce our Naturist Family Contest, where we celebrate the beauty and spirit of families who embrace naturism.
Families are judged on their submitted videos or letters about how naturism helped a child overcome body shame or how it taught a teenager to reject media-driven beauty standards.
Traditional wellness culture treats weight loss as a primary goal. Body positivity argues that weight is a poor proxy for health; metabolically healthy people exist across the BMI spectrum (Bacon & Aphramor, 2011). When wellness insists on shrinking bodies, it alienates those who cannot or will not achieve thinness.
Before diving into the pageants themselves, we must understand the platform. is an emerging online directory and community network designed specifically for naturists. Unlike mainstream social media, which actively censors non-sexual nudity, eNature Net provides a safe, vetted space for families and individuals who practice social nudism.
This was the first major public naturist pageant. While it drew national interest, critics within the movement argued it prioritized physical attractiveness over the core naturist ideal of body acceptance.
