Freshman Physical Education is not a graduation checkbox. It is the university’s most underleveraged tool for retention, mental health, and academic success. When done correctly, it teaches the freshman the most critical lesson of adulthood: Your body is not separate from your mind; it is the hardware that runs your software.
College is a time for socialization, and PE classes provide an ideal platform for freshmen to interact with their peers outside of the academic setting. By participating in group sports, games, and activities, students develop essential communication, teamwork, and leadership skills.
