The story follows Kavya Pratap Singh ( Alia Bhatt ), a feisty girl from Ambala who travels to Delhi to buy an expensive designer wedding lehenga before her arranged marriage to an NRI doctor. There, she meets Rakesh "Humpty" Sharma ( Varun Dhawan ), a carefree Delhi boy. Though initially at odds, the two fall in love through a series of adventures.
