If you have a bass sample from a 90s hip-hop record that sounds flat, RBass is your best friend. Set Frequency to 60-70 Hz and sweep the Amount until the sample "thumps" like a modern 808. It should feel like the bass just got a better amp

Boosting 50 Hz by +6dB increases the actual amplitude of that frequency. This eats headroom, can cause clipping, and often sounds muddy on systems that can't reproduce that frequency. RBass avoids this.
